Acupuncture for the Loss of Smell

The loss of sense of smell is a symptom of the smokers. Smoking causes this effect looks significantly damaged, so it loses functionality (along with taste, to a lesser extent) as the body of smokers declines. But smoking does not cause loss of smell.

The condition known as anemia is defined as the loss of olfactory function per se, and is associated with diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, among others. How to avoid it? Acupuncture offers solutions that are published in a recent study conducted by researchers at the University Of Cologne, Germany.

In this we worked with fifteen patients who received acupuncture treatment of ten sessions of thirty minutes a week, which measured their response to treatment in relation to olfactory functions.

After treatment the results were compared with those reached by a group of patients who had received Anosmia supplements of B vitamins for twelve weeks, noting that the acupuncture group had greater recovery. (more…)

Ideal Therapy for Postoperative

At least for postoperative cancer operations in the neck or head. We know that surgery is the best solution for malignant tumors anywhere in the body, but the postoperative carry these operations are not very tolerable in all cases.

The lack of mobility in the neck and shoulders can be a hindrance rather uncomfortable for many, not to mention the pain that these surgeries entail. But alternative medicine has been found in the practice of acupuncture an appropriate solution to deal with such problems.

In New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) has coordinated a team of investigators to study the effects of application of acupuncture in patients of these surgeries, and results have been satisfactory.

Seventy people operated tumors in the head or neck who participated in the study, 35 was given acupuncture treatment to deal with post-operative, while the other half was given a course of physical rehabilitation and common drugs. (more…)
