Diaper Dermatitis and Diaper Rash
What can you do in case of diaper rash?
Some babies only experience it once in their life while others occur with some frequency. No one knows the reasons why these differences exist in the skin, but some children seem more sensitive than others.
The best way to treat a common diaper rash, caused by a fungal infection, is to aerate the area. It is useful to remove the diaper for an hour several times a day. It also helps change diapers often, keeping the area dry. It is important to wash the diaper area every time you change, and dry properly. In some cases of dermatitis or sensitive skin, can protect the skin with a moisturizer after every wash. To protect the red skin can use a zinc paste or cream that can be purchased at the pharmacy, because the zinc forms a protective layer on the skin. In severe cases, you can use a mild steroid cream with hydrocortisone and in consultation with your pediatrician.
It is better to use disposable diapers than cloth, as they absorb more liquid than the child’s skin.
