At least for postoperative cancer operations in the neck or head. We know that surgery is the best solution for malignant tumors anywhere in the body, but the postoperative carry these operations are not very tolerable in all cases.

The lack of mobility in the neck and shoulders can be a hindrance rather uncomfortable for many, not to mention the pain that these surgeries entail. But alternative medicine has been found in the practice of acupuncture an appropriate solution to deal with such problems.

In New York’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) has coordinated a team of investigators to study the effects of application of acupuncture in patients of these surgeries, and results have been satisfactory.

Seventy people operated tumors in the head or neck who participated in the study, 35 was given acupuncture treatment to deal with post-operative, while the other half was given a course of physical rehabilitation and common drugs.

It is interesting that in the first half more cases have been reported where decreased pain and increased mobility of the neck and shoulders in the second, as this re-positioning of Acupuncture as a treatment not only beneficial itself, but as complementary to conventional treatments.
