The Signs of Heart Attack
What are the signs that will happen in a heart attack or stroke?
Be aware that not all people experience these warning signs when they suffer a heart attack or stroke. Also, sometimes these signs can go away and again. Treatments are most effective if given within one hour immediately after the commencement of the attack. If any of these symptoms, call 911 immediately!
Among the signs of heart attack, are the following:
- Feeling of chest discomfort or pressure or pain, as if something crushed or squeezing or pain in the center of the chest that can last for several minutes, or comes and goes.
- The pain may spread to one or both arms, back, jaw or stomach.
- Cold sweat and nausea.
As in men, the symptom most common heart attack experienced by women, is a pain or discomfort in the chest. However, women are slightly more likely than men to experience other warning signs, particularly shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting and pain in the back or jaw.
Among the signs of stroke include the following:
- Sudden loss of sensation or paralysis of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body.
- Sudden confusion or trouble speaking or understanding speech.
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness or loss of balance or coordination.
- Severe headache of sudden onset and unexplained.
- Blurred vision or double vision, drowsiness and nausea or vomiting.
